Takanini has a lot of new homes, and new homes have a specific problem: big glass. A three-metre slider looks fantastic until the first February afternoon, when the whole living area turns into an oven and the heat pump cannot keep up.
Roller blinds are the practical answer because you can choose how much heat and glare the fabric stops while still keeping the view. A sunscreen roller keeps the outlook and cuts the glare; a blockout roller next to it handles the worst of the afternoon. Two blinds in one opening is a common setup for us in Takanini.
Why roller blinds suit Takanini homes
We are six minutes away, so Takanini jobs slot in easily around the rest of the week. We cover the newer streets off Great South Road as well as the older houses towards Conifer Grove and the Addison area, and the same crew measures and installs.
What we fit in Takanini
Sunscreen blinds
The right fabric for large living-room glass: cuts glare and UV without closing the room in or losing the view.

High windows and wide sliders are where motorisation earns its money. A remote or a wall switch beats a pole every time.

For bedroom windows in new builds, where the street light and the early sun both get in.

Measure and quote
We come to you in Takanini, measure every window and talk through fabrics in the room where they will hang.
Made to measure
Your blinds are cut and assembled for your windows, not trimmed down from a standard size.
Installed
We fit the brackets and hang the blinds, then check every one runs properly before we leave.
Questions we get in Takanini
Can you fit blinds to very wide sliding doors?
Yes, and it is worth measuring rather than guessing. Wide openings usually work best as two or three separate rollers on one headbox rather than one enormous blind, which sags and is heavy to operate.
Is motorisation worth it in a new build?
For high or wide windows, usually. If a blind is out of comfortable reach, it will stay where it is, so the room never gets the benefit. We can quote both manual and motorised on the same measure so you can compare.
Do you charge for the measure in Takanini?
No. The in-home measure and quote is free, with a minimum of five blinds, and you are under no obligation to order.
We have not moved in yet. Can you measure before settlement?
If you have access, yes. Measuring before you move in is easier than after, and it means the blinds can go in on the day you get the keys.
