Plantation shutters are the most permanent thing you can put on a window. A frame is fixed to the window and louvred panels hang in it: you tilt the louvres for light, and swing whole panels open when you want the glass clear.
That is why they suit the rooms that get used all day, and why they hold their value. They also need a proper measure, because every panel is made to the millimetre for that opening. There is no trimming a shutter down on site.
Shutters in Henderson
Henderson is 35 minutes from our workshop, around the Henderson town centre and Lincoln Road. A wide mix, from older state housing to new terraces and larger family homes.
That shapes what we recommend. We measure the actual windows, look at which way they face and how the room is used, and quote on that rather than on a brochure. If you also want motorised blinds in the same rooms, we can quote both on the one visit.
How it works on your windows
Tilt, or open right up
The louvres do the light and privacy, and the panels swing clear when you want the window and the airflow back.

No cords or chains across the glass, which matters with kids and pets. A damp cloth does the cleaning.

The opening needs to be square and deep enough for the panel to swing. We check that on the measure, window by window.

Questions we get in Henderson
Do you charge for a measure in Henderson?
No. The in-home measure and quote is free across Henderson, with a minimum of five blinds or coverings, and no obligation. Henderson is 35 minutes from our Manurewa workshop.
Do shutters fit any window?
Most, but not all. Deep reveals, square frames and enough depth for a panel to swing are what decide it. We check every window on the measure and tell you straight away if one will not take a shutter.
Do shutters block much light?
Less than a blind with the louvres open, which is rather the point: you keep the view and control the glare. If a bedroom needs full darkness, we will talk about a blockout option instead.
Are they hard to keep clean?
Easier than fabric. A damp cloth along the louvres, no cords, no tracks and nothing to vacuum.
How does the process run?
We measure, the panels are made to those measurements, and we install and adjust them. We confirm the date when you order, because it depends on the finish and the number of windows.
