Vertical blinds are the practical answer for wide openings, especially ranchsliders and big windows in rentals. The louvres hang vertically, tilt for light and privacy, and part in the middle so you can walk straight through.
They are also the cheapest way to cover a lot of glass, and the easiest to repair when a tenant, a child or a dog takes out a couple of louvres, because the slats replace individually rather than the whole blind.
Vertical Blinds in Takapuna
Takapuna is 34 minutes from our workshop, around Takapuna beach and Hurstmere Road. Established homes and apartments, much of it within walking distance of the beach.
That shapes what we recommend. We measure the actual windows, look at which way they face and how the room is used, and quote on that rather than on a brochure. If you also want shutters in the same rooms, we can quote both on the one visit.
How it works on your windows
Walk straight through
For a door that is actually used, splitting in the middle beats moving a whole blind every time.

Damage a few louvres and you replace those, not the entire unit.

Tilt for light and privacy, then stack the louvres to the side and get the glass back.

Questions we get in Takapuna
Do you charge for a measure in Takapuna?
No. The in-home measure and quote is free across Takapuna, with a minimum of five blinds or coverings, and no obligation. Takapuna is 34 minutes from our Manurewa workshop.
Vertical blinds or a roller for a ranchslider?
If the door is used constantly, verticals let you walk through a gap without touching the rest. If heat and glare control matter more, a roller with a sunscreen fabric does that better. We can show you both on the measure.
Can you replace just the broken slats?
Yes, that is the main advantage of the system. We match the slat and replace only what is damaged.
Are they right for a rental?
They are the usual choice: inexpensive for a wide opening, hard wearing, and easy to repair between tenancies.
Can vertical blinds be motorised?
Some can. If that is what you want, say so on the measure and we will confirm what is available for that width and track.
