A recessed track sits up inside the ceiling, so the curtains appear to come straight out of it. No track on show, no gap above the curtains for light to leak through, and the window reads taller than it is.
The catch is timing. The recess has to be built into the ceiling before it is lined, which makes this a new-build or renovation decision rather than something you retrofit to a finished room. If you are at the framing or gib stage, that is exactly the moment to sort it.
