A roller blind is one sheet of fabric on a tube, and the fabric is the whole decision. The same system that keeps a bedroom dark at 6am in summer can, with a different cloth, cut the glare off a west-facing lounge while keeping the view.
That is why we bring the fabric to the measure rather than emailing a colour chart. Openness, weight and colour all change how a room feels, and the difference between two fabrics that look similar on a sample card is obvious once the afternoon sun is on them.
Roller Blinds in Remuera
Remuera is 22 minutes from our workshop, from the village up over the ridge. Big established homes, often renovated, with large rooms and tall joinery.
That shapes what we recommend. We measure the actual windows, look at which way they face and how the room is used, and quote on that rather than on a brochure. If you also want shutters in the same rooms, we can quote both on the one visit.
How it works on your windows
Blockout for sleeping
A coated fabric that stops light at the window, which is what a bedroom in a new build usually needs.

Cuts the heat and glare off big glass while keeping the outlook, instead of closing the room in.

Questions we get in Remuera
Do you charge for a measure in Remuera?
No. The in-home measure and quote is free across Remuera, with a minimum of five blinds or coverings, and no obligation. Remuera is 22 minutes from our Manurewa workshop.
Which fabric should I choose?
It depends on the room. Blockout for bedrooms, sunscreen for lounges and sliders that get afternoon sun, light-filtering where you want brightness without the glare. We bring samples to the measure so you can see them on your own window.
Can one blind do both jobs?
Not really, and pretending otherwise leads to disappointment. On a west-facing lounge the usual answer is a sunscreen roller for the day, with a blockout blind or curtain behind it for the evening.
Inside the window or over the top?
Inside the reveal looks neater and sits closer to the glass. Over the face covers more of the light spill and suits windows with no depth. We check the reveal on the measure and tell you which will work.
Do roller blinds work on very wide sliders?
Yes, usually as two or three blinds on one headbox rather than one enormous roller, which sags and is heavy to operate.
