Venetian blinds are horizontal slats in a frame, tilted with a wand or a cord. Tilted flat you get privacy and a soft light; tilted open you get the view and airflow. Nothing else gives you that much fine control for the money.
They earn their place in kitchens, bathrooms, rentals and offices, where the surface needs to be wipeable rather than fabric. Aluminium is the usual choice; timber and faux-wood give a warmer look in a living room.

Do you charge for a measure in Bombay?

Cheap ones do. A properly fitted venetian has the right number of ladder cords for the width and a bottom rail with tension, and we check that on installation.
How much light do they let in?
More than a roller when tilted open, less when closed flat. They are not a blockout product, so a bedroom that needs darkness is better with a roller.
Can they be used on a ranchslider?
Verticals usually work better because you can walk through them. A venetian across a door that is used constantly gets knocked about.
